An apartment in edinburgh was not the chosen destination for a hen party who origonally had booked a pre wedding jaunt to Magaluff in Spain. The Newcastle based band of lively ladies had planned the trip to the spanish resort months in advance. None however had anticipated that the reality would be spending a week enjoying the sites and sounds of downtown edinburgh as the occupied one of our Lothian Road Edinburgh Apartments. The shocking scenario unfolded as of all things an Icelandic volcano erupted rendering flights in and out of the uk grounded.The ladies were made aware of the cancellation of their travel plans a couple of days before departure to the sunshine. Newcastle airport was closed for the duration and an alternative destination for the fired up and excited hens needed to be found. None of the group members were intending to cancel the party – just change the place it would happen. It was at this point that we at Edinburgh Apartments recieved the call requesting accommodation for 18 ladies checking in on a monday afternoon staying through till friday. So what if the score came out even stevens – at least nobody lost – and when nobody loses then everyones a winner. Thats what we at edinburgh festival apartments found this weekend. With the last few stragglers heading for home the apartments have seen a full capacity weekend of happy revellers, rugby goers, hen party groups and our first actors of the season. A mixed bunch to be fair – a significant number of irish ladies and gentlemen took over a few of our edinburgh apartments – not a nation to be dictated to by tradition or function their presence in the city when the england and scotland rugby teams were facing off could only have added to the spectacle and atmosphere in the cities many nightspots and pubs.
